POSITION OVERVIEW

The Full Story.

Already Columbus’ top independent PR firm, Geben Communication, has ambitious growth goals. To help us build a smart, effective communications strategy for a mix of clients, we’re seeking a Digital Communications Manager to partner closely with our clients and account teams.

Brainstorming ideas, executing paid campaigns, or developing and optimizing content sums up a day in the life, but every day is different. The perfect candidate is deadline-driven, results-oriented, and has a knack for business.

Geben works with a range of B2B and B2C clients, from startups and emerging brands to Fortune 200 companies … and everything in between. We have a special affinity for mission-driven nonprofits and foundations, as well as for-profit brands that share our commitment to Do Well By Doing Good. We accelerate clients’ growth through smarter communication, specializing in public relations, social media, digital marketing, and data analytics/insights.

The Role:

We’re hiring a digital communications manager who plays by our House Rules. This person will own the digital execution engine across a portfolio of client accounts. This is a hands-on, cross-channel role at the intersection of paid media, SEO, website management, and analytics. You will build and optimize campaigns, sharpen how clients show up in search, keep client websites healthy, and turn performance data into clear recommendations. You will work closely with our data and digital strategy, client success, and creative teams, contributing to brainstorms and bringing proactive ideas that grow accounts.

What You'll Do

Paid Media & Search

  • Build, launch, and manage paid search and digital advertising campaigns across Google Ads (Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, and Display) and other paid social and search platforms.

  • Conduct account audits and lead ongoing optimization — ad and asset improvements, keyword and search-term cleanup, negative keywords, bidding, budgets, and settings reviews.

  • Research keywords and write ad copy (headlines and descriptions) that ladder up to each client's positioning and campaign goals.

  • Consolidate and restructure fragmented accounts to improve efficiency, smart-bidding performance, and alignment to business objectives.

SEO & Website

  • Run SEO audits and build strategies covering technical SEO, on-page optimization, keyword targeting, local search, and content recommendations, using tools such as SpyFu, Moz, and Google Search Console.

  • Manage and optimize Google Business Profiles and local search presence.

  • Recommend and implement website updates and content improvements, and manage day-to-day edits in CMS platforms such as Squarespace (page structure, media, redirects, and publishing).

Analytics & Reporting

  • Own recurring performance reporting — monthly, quarterly, and campaign recaps — pulling the numbers and translating them into insights and clear next steps.

  • Monitor campaign and channel performance and proactively surface opportunities and risks to account teams and clients.

Strategy & Collaboration

  • Partner with data/digital strategy, client success, and creative teammates to plan and execute integrated campaigns.

  • Contribute to brainstorms and bring proactive, growth-minded ideas to existing accounts.

  • Communicate directly with clients on digital deliverables, updates, and support requests in a clear, responsive, and professional way.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in digital marketing, paid media, or SEO — agency experience a plus.

  • Working command of Google Ads, paid search, PMax, AI Max, etc. Comfortable building and optimizing campaigns independently.

  • Solid SEO fundamentals across technical, on-page, and local search, plus experience with tools like Google Search Console, Moz, or SpyFu.

  • Comfort in analytics and reporting — you can pull data, spot the story, and make a recommendation.

  • Experience with website CMS platforms (e.g., Squarespace, WordPress) and basic site management.

  • Strong written communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines at once.

  • A proactive, curious, action-oriented mindset — you like to build, test, and improve, and you're eager to use new tools and AI to work smarter.
