About the Role

As an agency in growth mode, no day is entirely predictable and no day is ever the same. This role is key to ensuring as we grow that we continue to provide impactful strategy to our roster of clients. Your job will entail:

  • Lead Discovery Sessions with new clients and help shape the Strategy Brief (often the first deliverable we provide to clients).

  • Drive the research phase of client work, including (but not limited to) developing online surveys to collect feedback; interviewing client contacts, board members, and other key stakeholders for input; and researching industry and competitor trends. Distill all this information into actionable insights that inform our communication recommendations and shape our clients’ broader decision making.

  • Lead the development of communication strategies for clients. While other team members on the account can support some of the research and help brainstorm tactics, the Senior Strategist is responsible for developing the majority of a plan’s content and, more often than not, leading the client presentation.

  • Review tactical recommendations from account teams prior to the ideas being presented to the client and provide feedback to enhance and elevate the ideas.

  • Guide the development of marketing campaigns and content strategies, in partnership with account managers.

  • In certain cases, prospect and participate in new business pitches as needed and provide creative ideas to “wow” prospects.

  • Provide a “final review” of key deliverables before they’re shared with the client.

  • Partner with the Creative Strategist and account managers to identify opportunities to proactively suggest new ideas to clients.

  • Provide coaching/mentoring to senior account managers and account managers to help them approach their work more strategically.

In addition to providing strategic counsel across a range of clients, this person will be assigned a handful key clients (number TBD, based on other responsibilities and work load), with a focus on owning more of the senior-level relationships, strategic thinking and growth opportunities. For that part of this role, we’re seeking someone who can:

  • Be an active leader in strategic planning and client development.

  • Demonstrate fluency in client’s business categories.

  • Demonstrate consistent ability to grow client business and agency revenue.

  • Work in tandem with the Client Services team to manage the health of client relationships and team dynamics.

  • An ability to “push back” and have tough conversations when needed.

  • Plan and oversee development of contract renewal and opportunistic proposals.

  • Mine for opportunities within client portfolio to cross/up-sell additional agency services.

  • Secure/strengthen client relationships as the most senior-level point of contact.

  • Ensure the integrity of the agency process.

About You

This is a critical role as Geben continues to grow. We are looking for a high performer who is motivated by the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the evolution of the agency. Specifically, we are seeking someone with 7-10 years of communications experience, with a minimum of 3+ years in the following areas:

  • Pitching and securing media in national and local media outlets.

  • Integrating traditional PR tactics with social channels.

  • Developing communications strategies that deliver results aligned to business objectives.

  • Creative PR/social/content marketing campaign concepts and managing execution.

  • Writing across various channels and industries, in differing tones and styles.

  • Identifying communication metrics to support achieving business goals.

  • Facilitating conversations, particularly knowing how to ask the right follow-up questions to get the information necessary to be successful.

  • Presenting ideas and conveying the value of recommendations to C-Suite executives.

  • A demonstrated ability to innovate best practices.

  • A willingness to coach the team to think more creatively and strategically.

  • A track record of effectively connecting people, things and ideas to create new opportunities.
